Mr Jones Machine emerged from a musical void. Ten years ago the Swedish scene was indeed extensive and growing, but two brothers, pioneers in their respective field, felt that something was missing. Many bands have been inspired by the heroes of the eighties, of synthesizer based pop and electronic body music. So is "Mr Jones Machine", but the brothers glanced even further back and wanted to reproduce and renew the sound of the pioneers in the late seventies and their predecessors. Further they wanted to bring along the elegance and mystique of traditional spy themes associated with TV-shows and movies of that era. A few ideas turned into songs and a name for the project was found on an album from 1982. Soon enough "Mr Jones Machine" performed on stage as a duo: Jarmo Ollila; Having a warm and beautiful voice, he caught attention with stylish electronic pop music during the 80's and the 90's in the bands "La Vogue" and "Daily Planet". Jouni Ollila; A skilful musician and sound artist who was part of what probably was the first industrial act in Sweden, "Pouppée Fabrikk". He has been, and is, involved in numerous constellations such as "Volvo 242", "Wärk", "MZ 412" and "Project-X". With the sensation that this actually could be going somewhere, the subject was risen that a trio might put on a better show. The offer to join the band was extended to a hobby musician with no previous experience of performing on stage or studio sessions. This wild card did however turn out a clever song writer. Magnus Lindström; Bought his first synthesizer in 1986 and did on occasion make minor efforts to put bands together. The last effort however, resulted in two recordings being played at the club "Romo-Night" in Gothenburg. In January 2005 the album "New Wave" was released, and that was only the beginning.... |
